Important Notice: Shepherd Allergy Closure

Shepherd Allergy will permanently close on December 5, 2026.

Dear Patient or Parent/Guardian,

After much consideration, I am writing to inform you that Shepherd Allergy will permanently close on December 5, 2026.

It has been a privilege to provide allergy and immunology care to you or your family. I am sincerely grateful for the trust you have placed in me, and I want to help make this transition as smooth as possible.

Continuity of Care

Effective October 26, 2026, Shepherd Allergy will no longer accept new patients.

We will continue seeing established patients for scheduled office visits during the transition period. Our office will also remain available by telephone to assist existing patients with continuity of care, referrals, and outstanding laboratory results through December 5, 2026.

For medical emergencies, please call 911 or seek emergency care.

Please begin making arrangements to establish care with another allergist or appropriate healthcare provider.

Upon request, our office will be happy to place a direct referral to another allergist/immunologist for any patient who would like one. This includes, but is not limited to, patients receiving:

  • Allergy immunotherapy

  • Biologic therapy

  • Immunoglobulin replacement therapy (IVIG/SCIG)

We will make every effort to facilitate continuity of care, although acceptance and appointment availability are determined by the receiving practice.

If you would like a direct referral, please contact our office as soon as possible and no later than December 5, 2026.

Patients receiving ongoing treatments are particularly encouraged to make arrangements promptly to avoid interruptions in care.

Pending Laboratory Results

Many outside laboratories no longer automatically send results to our office or notify us when testing has been completed. Although we may be able to access these results electronically, we may not know that your testing has been performed unless you contact us.

If you have completed laboratory testing ordered by Dr. Shepherd and have not received or reviewed your results, please contact our office as soon as possible and no later than December 5, 2026, so we can retrieve and review them with you.

After December 5, 2026, Dr. Shepherd and Shepherd Allergy will no longer be monitoring, reviewing, or following up on laboratory results, including results from testing previously ordered by Dr. Shepherd.

If your laboratory results have not been reviewed with you by that date, or if they become available afterward, please obtain a copy directly from the laboratory or its patient portal and arrange for review with your primary care physician and your new allergy/immunology provider.

Results will not automatically be transferred to another physician for review.

Any laboratory testing performed after December 5, 2026, including testing previously ordered by Dr. Shepherd, will NOT be reviewed or followed up on by Shepherd Allergy. Please arrange to have those results reviewed by your primary care physician and new allergist/immunologist.

Medical Records

Following the closure of Shepherd Allergy, your electronic medical records will continue to be securely maintained by Amy Vaughan Dermatology at our current location, in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and applicable medical records privacy and retention requirements.

Patients will continue to have the right to access their medical records and may request copies or have their records sent to another healthcare provider.
