Eosinophilic Esophagitis
Eosinophilic esophagitis, or EoE, is chronic inflammation of the esophagus. This inflammatory condition is caused by an accumulation of a certain type of white blood cells, called eosinophils, in the throat that can make it difficult to swallow. The buildup of white blood cells can be triggered by a reaction to foods, allergens, or even acid reflux.
